**Originally posted in January 2007 so some of the prices are out of date. When I got engaged last December, I immediately started calling places in NYC and NJ in order to find the "perfect" reception site. I needed to move fast to find any remaining available dates for the year since I was working within a tight 8-month timeframe. I started tracking all the places I called in a spreadsheet and thought this information might be helpful to couples who are just beginning their hunt for that perfect... Read More... |

My mother made these baskets for the bathrooms at my sister's wedding, but they could just as easily be used for a flower girl or for a shower. They take very little time to put together and no sewing is required. She bought 1 yard of polyester satin on 39th Street in the garment district as well as 2 white baskets with handles and plastic liners on 28th Street in the floral district. She made the paper flowers that you see on the basket handles out of crepe paper and stamens that she found at... Read More... |

I've received quite a few requests recently from brides looking for more budget info on planning a wedding in NYC. The benefit of a NYC wedding is having your big event in a city known for its style and sophistication. But while it's a wonderful location for an elegant affair, you'll need to keep your credit card handy! You'll soon discover that every component of the wedding will be more expensive here than in most of the surrounding areas. After spending countless hours researching sites and... Read More... |

As I mentioned in a previous post, it's important to thank your mother, future MIL or anyone else who is helping you tremendously during the wedding planning process -- and don't wait until it's all over to express your gratitude. Especially since it's Mother's Day on Sunday, now is the perfect time to do something special for your mom or future MIL. Part of my Mother's Day gift was inspired by a recent shopping trip. My mom has been struggling to find an appropriate mother-of-the-bride dress... Read More... |

I was just in the post office today and asked about the stamp options after the rate increase of May 12. For the RSVP envelope, you have to use a forever stamp or
a combo of stamps to get you to the new $0.42 rate. The cost for the wedding invitation stamp - currently $0.58 - will go up $0.01 as well. The USPS will not be introducing a new wedding stamp until June so if your invites are going out between May 12th and early June, you will need to add a $0.01 stamp to ensure adequate postage...
