While in the midst of wedding planning, I, like many of you now, found myself frequenting many message boards to get inspiration and discuss planning with other brides, etc. The thing that I found the most surprising was the debate as to whether or not each bride was going to be hiring a videographer for their wedding day. Personally, hiring a videographer was never a question for me so I found it interesting that the debate was not which videographer each bride was going to hire but if they would... Read More... |

It has been nearly nine months since my husband and I were married and we still haven’t put our wedding album together. I was relieved to know that we aren’t the only recently married couple who hasn’t done this yet. In fact, friends of ours who were married nearly three years ago told us that they just finished theirs. After you are wed, you too may find yourself without the time to finally sit down and choose photos for your album. For the wedding “DIYers” this... Read More... |

As some of you know, I'm About.com's guide to Newlyweds, which means I regularly blog about the lives of the newly married. I've recently started to participate in Wordless Wednesday, where I post a photo, instead of a lengthy text-filled blog, to tell the day's story. On this, my first week participating in Wordless Wednesday, I feature a photo of my friends Alexandra and Rosario Vaina on their wedding day (in New Jersey on Nov. 3, 2007), who used Pittelli Photography. My goal is to feature a different... Even my work has gone bridal in the last week. I recently wrote an article for About.com about all the options modern couples have for creating photo albums. With many photographers (the best ones, if you ask me) offering to give the bride and groom all the raw digital images from the wedding day, you can come up with all sorts of creative ways to use them -- from creating videos replete with special effects and music, like my groom recently did for my brother and sister-in-law, to scrapbooking... By now, you might have heard about the fact that Celebration Studios, a tri-state area wedding photography company, is facing charges of fraud, filing for bankruptcy, and has failed to deliver photos to newlyweds who have already paid for them. The whole story has me up in arms, especially since I'm starting to pay wedding bills already -- and I know how expensive it is and how high the expectations are. I have written about the whole controversy on About.com's Newlyweds site and called for folks... Read More... |

Read the article below published in today's New York Times about a local photography/videgraphy company, Celebration Studios, that closed this past month and has just filed bankruptcy. Many couples are now without their wedding photos and videos and left waiting to find out if they will ever receive them. I remember hearing brides complain about this company on different message boards saying that the company was extremely delayed in getting out albums and also slow in responding to any inquiries... I recently wrote two posts (Part I & Part II) on an album I was creating for our parents using MyPublisher. I wanted to be sure to miss the holiday rush so I placed the order on Tuesday, December 4. I was shocked to see a big cardboard box from MyPublisher arrive on Friday, December 7. I received my order in only three days without even using expedited shipping - talk about a quick turnaround time!Never having used MyPublisher before, I was unsure how the final product would look. I decided... Read More... |

I just received an email invitation from Barnaby Draper Studios for a holiday party this Friday and wanted to share the details. They will be hosting an open Vodka and Guinness Bar from 8 to 10 p.m. at Bella's, a bar in SoHo. There will be a DJ, a photobooth, goodie bags, and a raffle donation, which includes a studio photo session with Barnaby Draper. (All proceeds from the raffle will go to Brides Against Breast Cancer - Making
Memories Foundation). Barnaby Draper Studios is teaming with... Read More... |

In my previous post on photobooks, I discussed some different options for creating a professional-style album. These albums can be used for so many different things: putting together your engagement pictures, creating a customized sign-in guest book for your reception or making thank-you albums for family members or your bridal party. Now is the time to place an order if you want to get the album in time for the holidays! Here are some more ideas and coupon codes to get you started. There are... Read More... |

I have been doing some research on the different options for photobooks and wanted to share some of my findings as well as discount codes to use for the holidays. Right now, I'm leaning toward using MyPublisher – anyone have any good/bad feedback to share or thoughts on any of the others? I have not ordered my book yet and would love any feedback before I place my order!
1) MyPublisherPros: Has several layout designs and photo upload is easy.Cons: I wanted to use the "wedding" style book... Read More... |
