Our next Vendor Spotlight is Anu Karwa, who founded Swirl Events to combine her passion for wine with her knack for bringing friends together for memorable evenings. After earning an Advanced Certification from the internationally
recognized Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) and through her own
tasting experiences, Anu firmly believed that wine did not have to be complicated
or stuffy. And so she began her dream of using wine as the key to creating a memorable affair with her company, Swirl Events!
This Vendor Spotlight is particularly meaningful to us BB'ers since Anu is offering her services to one lucky bride or bridesmaid in our contest (which ends this Friday so submit your entry soon!!!). Don't miss out on this great opportunity -- Anu has received absolutely rave BrideReviews on her fun and unique take on bridal showers and bachelorette parties! Here's more from Anu on her wine tasting events:

Q. You characterize wine as being fun and unpretentious. Why do you think a wine tasting is the perfect theme for a bachelorette party or bridal shower? A. I've personally been a bridesmaid 8 times. And I was thrown 3 different bridal showers for my own wedding. I pitied everyone who had to sit through hours of the same old-fashioned bridal shower where the only thing to do was watch me unwrap presents for three hours while everyone “oohed and “aahed” out of obligation. The idea of a traditional bachelorette party complete with dancers of the exotic variety made me want to squirm. I think a wine tasting bridal shower or bachelorette party breaks the mold and breaks the ice with guests from different circles. It gives everyone a fun activity in which to celebrate the special occasion.
Q. Can you describe a typical Swirl Events party? What are some of your first icebreakers when holding a shower or bachelorette? A. The party is ready to kick off the moment the first guest walks in the door. We hand everyone a welcome glass of sparkling wine to set a festive tone. Then, we walk everyone through our philosophy on wine (social, fun, not pretentious) and go through the 5 S's of Swirl wine tasting (See, Sip, Swirl, Smell, Summarize) to give everyone a foundation. Then, we lead guests through tasting 4-6 other wines and the stories behind them in a really interactive, dynamic way. It's never a boring lecture! Plus, we pair each wine with a gourmet cheese or chocolate - quite decadent and appropriate for a bridal soiree!
Q. Wine, cheese and celebrities...how do you bring the three together? A. As an option, we have a version of tasting note cards that help you compare the wine you're drinking to a celeb. The name of the wine is at the top along with four celebrity options with matching wine descriptions. It allows guests to debate whether that Sauvignon Blanc you're drinking is a Nicole Kidman (elegant and austere) or a Britney Spears (starts off great, but ends in disaster). It's really just an entertaining way to talk about the wine and gets everyone in on the conversation!
The celebrity tasting notecards usually set off a lot of debate and
helps break the ice. We sometimes play a wine trivia game at the end
to bring out the competitive side, with the winning team getting a
celebratory bottle of champagne - which they usually share!
Q. When you go to a restaurant with friends, do they usually defer to you to pick a wine for dinner? What are some of your favorite picks in the low, medium and high price points? A. Yes! I'm always the one annoited with the wine-picking task, but I offer the duty to my guests, just in case. I have two categories of "go to" wines. A Sauvignon Blanc from the Marlborough region of New Zealand. I like Oyster Bay (low price), Kim Crawford (med.) and Cloudy Bay (med hi). It's fresh, lively, flavorful and perfect with grilled veggies, light appetizers and fish. The next category is Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley of Oregon. Montinore Parsons Ridge (med-hi price) and Cristom (med-hi) are favorites. That will satisfy both white and red wine fans as well as complement a wide range of dishes. My other low price fave is a Prosecco (dry sparkling wine from Italy); you can find fantastic examples for $11 a bottle in wine shops. My higher priced faves are big, lush proprietary blends from Napa such as "The Prisoner" from Orin Swift Cellars, "Insignia" from Joseph Phelps, and Opus One.
Q. Do you recommend any other resources for amateur wine aficionados out there? A. There are some great wine blogs: Dr. Vino and East Village Wine Geek are two favorites. One books I find helpful is Andrea Immer's "Great Wine Made Simple."

Can you believe this story?
I had to share this with everyone.
(NewsCore)
A WOMAN'S breast implants have saved her life after she was caught in the line of fire and shot at point-blank range with a semi-automatic assault rifle.
The Sun reports Lydia Carranza's silicone implants took the force of the blow and prevented bullet fragments from reaching her vital organs.
The dental receptionist was at work in Beverly Hills, Calif., when a gunman burst in and opened fire.
He first shot dead his wife before turning the gun on Carranza, who was sitting a few feet away.
Surgeon Dr. Ashkan Ghavami said: "She's just one lucky woman.
"The bullet fragments were millimeters from her heart and her vital organs. Had she not had the implant, she might not be alive today."
Carranza's implants took her from a B to a D-cup.
Alleged gunman Jaime Paredes was charged with murder. |

Hi, Do you have any information how this works? They sell cars and get venture capital on the net. It's crazywhat interest rates they offer?!!! Like 14% monthly or so. Is that possible? Any experience with that? It sounds like fund income. |

No way!
Yesterday I received a message from (+972) 284-0600 / (+972) 2840600 and was convinced the the person calling was a scam.
Guess it was a bad case of the "Mondays" - cause I went nuts - and called the number and went nuts.
Anyway, I feel like such a fool Gulf Coast Western -the oil company- called me back was returning a call from last months interview - telling me I got the job
Any idea how to uncomplain and fix this?!!! |

If you are a real estate professional, be really careful in dealing with KoRes Corp. in Weston Florida. Tulio Rodriguez & Monica Cataluna-Shand are shysters and look for anyway to steal ones customers. They attempt to steal your client by requesting their contact information and later contact them behind your back to get them to deal with them directly.
